On the 19th, a group of eight individuals were given a tour of the Eaton facility as part of a new accelerated training program. Accompanying the individuals were the instructors that will be working with the trainees over the next eight weeks.

Larry Peterson, project manager for the Central Illinois Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, said that the eight-week program will “equip trainees to enter the workforce with five industry recognized credentials from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council.”

Last week some of the railroad work being done by the Illinois Department of Transportation and Union Pacific became apparent in the city of Lincoln. Black fencing is going up on both sides of the railroad track running through the city. The fencing is intended to be a safety measure to prevent pedestrians from crossing the track in unsafe areas. At the same time, the black wrought iron effect will add a decorative quality and partially mask the tracks from view.
