LDN -- Top Stories

It was Fall Festival weekend in Mount Pulaski and there was plenty to do and see all around town starting on Friday night and continuing on Saturday. This year’s Grand Marshal for the Saturday afternoon parade was Teena Lowery. Lowery was born and raised in Mount Pulaski, she married a hometown boy and they raised two great kids in the small close-knit community. People who know Teena, even if only by sight, know that she is always smiling, always upbeat, and always on the go. As part of the LDN staff, we often call her the "Energizer Bunny," simply because she's always on the go and does it with a great big ole' smile!

On  Saturday morning in Lincoln, the National Railsplitting Festival kicked off with a ribbon cutting. Members of the local Railsplitting Association, folks working in the many live demonstration areas at Postville Courthouse, and other guests were joined by Logan County Fair Queen Molly Schempp, Junior Miss Julia Collins, and Little Miss Kylee Fulk; and Ward One Alderman Tracy Welch standing in for Mayor Goodman, posed for a group photo. Then Welch and Railsplitter Association President Darlene Begolka snipped the ribbon. LDN will have additional coverage from the Railsplitter Festival on Tuesday.
