This past weekend 9-year-old Will Stambaugh of Beason participated in the youth shotgun hunt and bagged his first-ever deer, a 10-point buck weighing 210 pounds (hanging weight). The youth shotgun hunt allows young hunters under the age of 16 to hunt, accompanied by an adult. Only the young person may carry a gun and shoot. This was Will's first time hunting. His dad said, "It took Will 16 minutes to get his first 10-point buck, his first deer ever. It took me seven years to get my first 10-pointer." Will was hunting in Christian County, near Mount Auburn. He shot the deer at 75 yards, at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday. His dad said it was a textbook-perfect shot for the 9-year-old.
