Monday evening, the Lincoln/Logan Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals hosted a presentation at Lincoln Community High School. Speakers Jack Shultz, author of "Boomtown USA," and Craig Lindvahl, founder of a CEO program in Effingham, spoke about the millennial generation and how to help them grow into entrepreneurs. LDN will have more coverage of this event in a future edition.

The third-grade winner of the Lincoln Fire Department's poster contest is Lukas Morgan. Lukas' poster features a burning house with someone trapped on the second floor. The person is doing what they should, trying to get the attention of the firefighters below. In addition, family members are waiting outside. That is an important rule the firefighters taught this year: Once you are out of the house, do not go back in for any reason. Lukas took first place with his poster among 70 entries. As his reward, he was driven to school by the city fire department on Monday.

Dr. George Horner plays a song for a reporter during an Associated Press interview at his home in Newtown Square, Pa., on Oct. 17. Horner, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor and pianist, will join Yo-Yo Ma on stage at Boston's Symphony Hall on Tuesday to perform music that was written in the concentration camp where he was imprisoned.
