The Atlanta Police Department Firearms Range will officially open on May 14th when an Illinois Concealed Carry Course is conducted there by Pistol Prep Academy, headquartered in Atlanta. When it was first proposed several months ago, the Atlanta Police Department Firearms Range project received design and planning support from the Lincoln/Logan County Development Partnership. Working in conjunction with the Atlanta Police Department, the city of Atlanta, and Annette Chapman, owner and operator of the Pistol Prep Academy; the Partnership helped put together and write the proposal to the Atlanta City Council asking for TIF support.

Two young ladies have been selected to receive $1250 scholarships from the Zonta Club of Lincoln.

Sylvia Klumpp is the daughter of Matthew and Lynda Klumpp of Mount Pulaski. Sylvia is finishing her freshman year at the University of Illinois Springfield majoring in biology. She hopes to pursue a career as a forensic scientist.

Madison Haley is the daughter of Jeff and Tricia Haley of Chestnut. Madison graduates this spring from Mount Pulaski High School and will be attending North Central College with a double major in athletic training and sports management.

Lynx’s Swim team teammates Joe Scribner and Victor Mahnke have very tight time schedules during the competitive swim season. For these teammates making time to fit two or three extra hours a week at the pool teaching local children to swim adds value to their college experience.
