Today,
June 14th, is the anniversary of our
nation's flag. The original flag with 13
stripes and 13 stars was designated as
our country's symbol on June 14th, 1777.
This past Saturday, the Lincoln Elks
Lodge 914 hosted a Flag Day Service to
commemorate the anniversary.
Later this morning at 10:30 a.m. the
American Legion Post 263 in Lincoln will
host a flag retirement service. Anyone
having old, worn, tattered or torn
American flags may bring them to the
Legion for appropriate retirement
through burning. The public is also
invited to attend the service which
includes an official retirement ceremony
by the Legion Color Guard.
