At the Monday, May
20th meeting of the Logan County Genealogical &
Historical Society, local resident Chris Glick
shared his research and knowledge of the Lincoln
Developmental Center that closed in 2002.
LDC has over the years had many names, including
some that today would be considered quite offensive.
Founded in 1877 the facility was called the Illinois
Asylum for Feeble Minded Children.
Glick walked through the history of the facility and
also talked about some of the treatment methods that
were used with people who suffered emotional
disturbances.
