Members of the Mount Pulaski VFW Post 777 watch via the Internet as Mount Pulaski High School student Madison Haley accepts a check for $30,000.  Madison, representing VFW Post 777, Illinois  District 10 and the VFW State Department of Illinois, won at the 67th annual national VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship essay competition Monday evening at the annual VFW national conference in Washington, D.C.

http://archives.lincolndailynews.com/2011/May/10/images/050911pics/pictur50.jpgAt the Monday night meeting of the Lincoln City Council, aldermen gave Mayor Keith Snyder the authority to wrap up the details for the city to purchase the Lincoln Depot  property. The property is being purchased by the city with reimbursement coming from the Illinois Department of Transportation. This is one step in the completion of the Alton-to-Chicago high-speed rail project.
