LDN -- Top Stories

On Monday evening the city of Lincoln presented the first ever Hometown Hero Award to Mason Lee. On July 3rd of this year, Mason was a passenger in an ATV with four occupants including his stepfather Josh Gallagher. The ATV flipped over and landed on its side. All the occupants were wearing safety restraints. Mason was able to free himself and another youngster who was a passenger beside him. Mason noted that his step dad was unconscious and bleeding profusely from a head wound. Though injured and bleeding himself, Mason ran more than a mile to get help for Gallagher and the others.

Mason is a nine-year-old student at Washington-Monroe Grade School. His parents are Emily and Josh Gallagher and Jason Lee.

Mason was called to the front of the room as Mayor Seth Goodman, aldermen and the audience delivered a standing ovation. He was given the first Home Hometown Hero certificate.
