Look for new four-way stop sign

[NOV. 5, 2003]  By unanimous vote the Lincoln City Council moved to install four-way stop signs at a corner one block off the square, at South Decatur and South McLean streets.

Concerned neighbors and parents petitioned the city to replace the two yield signs that control traffic at the corner, saying that drivers are often seen driving too fast or not paying close attention.

Since the renovations in Scully Park have taken place, the park draws many more children. There have been many near misses, and people are concerned for the safety of children. They don't want to wait until something bad happens to a child.

Chief Rich Montcalm was asked to conduct research on the corner and made the recommendation as last week's work session.

Alderman Verl Prather said he would like to see the same attention given to the corner at McLean and Pekin streets in front of the library, which sits across from Latham Park and also draws many children.
