Friday while the heat was high, the storms and rain stayed away for the annual Lincoln D.A.R.E. Golf Outing. Pictured above to the right is city of Lincoln Police Chief Ken Greenslate. The Lincoln Police Department holds the golf outing each year to raise funds for D.A.R.E programs for area youth throughout the year. This week children were invited to attend Vacation Bible School at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The theme for this year was "Weird Animals...Where Jesus' love is one-of-a-kind."  Through mornings filled with special lessons, games, and crafts, the children learned they are one-of-a-kind individuals that God loves dearly and personally. Their classrooms were set up as jungle like settings, and one of their favorite crafts of the week involved making wild animals out of cups and other common materials.

Devyn Fry and her mom found this guy hanging on the door of the Steak-n-Shake in Lincoln on Friday.  Maybe he was looking for someplace to get in out of the sweltering heat.  Or maybe he was hoping for a grasshopper milkshake!
