Saturday evening at the annual Illinois Route 66 Association Banquet in Lincoln, Stu Churchill accepted the award of Route 66 Hall of Fame on behalf of the Postville Courthouse. Postville is the first ever State Historic Site to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. As a result, the courthouse will have a special display at the Route 66 Museum in Pontiac. Presenting the award to Churchill is association president Cathie Stevanovich. Read more about this in the story below and be sure to check out the albums from the banquet.

The 1971 Don McLean hit song “American Pie” lamented the loss of innocence of yesteryear. The good days of the 50s and 60s “American Pie” were recreated on Saturday all along Route 66. Under sunny blue skies and with pleasant temperatures, visitors and towns people in Atlanta celebrated Route 66 with a car cruise-in and barbecue contest. In Lincoln, garage sales lined the Mother Road. The breezy day and leisurely activities felt like an idyllic throwback to those long ago, wonderful days.
