It
was another big weekend in Lincoln as hundreds visited for the
annual Route 66 Garage Sales. The city of Lincoln designated Route
66 Weekend on June 7th through 9th. In addition, there were two
special ribbon cuts. The first kicked off the weekend in general and
also celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Mill on Route 66.
Sam Sorrento's Pizzeria in downtown
Lincoln celebrated the four-generation family-owned business 50th
year in the community. That 50th anniversary was made more relevant
to the Route 66 Weekend when owner Lisa Drew explained that her late
husband's family were immigrants from Italy who traveled down Route
66 looking for a new place to call home. When they came to Lincoln
it just felt like the right place, and the rest is history - 50
years of history.
