A massive and dangerous storm system passed through Logan County on Thursday in the very wee hours of the morning. Storm sirens sounded in Lincoln and the winds roared through the city wreaking havoc in many areas.

The National Weather Service has confirmed an F1 tornado passed through the area north of Lincoln, while in the city it was strictly high winds. The majority of the damage to the town appears to have occurred in the southern parts of town with the worst damage reported at Latham Park, Wyatt Avenue, South Hamilton, Frorer Avenue, Williamette Avenue, Fifth Street and Second and Third Streets.

A report issued by Sheriff Mark Landers at 4 a.m. Thursday morning indicated there had been significant damage in many parts of the county including trees down across the road on 121 at Salt Creek, a grain bin in the railroad track near Bell Station, more than a dozen power poles taken out near Middletown, one box truck blown off the road near Atlanta, and more than 4,000 customers without power.

This collection of 'new in box' condition die-cast models from NASCAR are just a small piece of the big, big selection of items that will be offered this year at the annual Humane Society of Logan County Route 66 Garage Sale. The HSLC is accepting donations on Saturday as well as Wednesday and Saturday next week. The sales will be held on June 7, 8, and 9 with a special preview night from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th.
