On Monday evening, Lincoln Police Chief Paul Adams presented Officer Christy Fruge with the 2015 Officer of the Year Award. The presentation was done in front of the Lincoln City Council during their Monday voting session meeting. Adams commended Officer Fruge on her outstanding work with the Lincoln Police Department's D.A.R.E. program, and her "out of the box" ideas to help build good relationships with the youth in the city. Fruge's work with the D.A.R.E. program is done in addition to her regular duties as a Lincoln Police Officer.

The Atlanta Quilting Corner recently donated two hand-made play mats to each of the nurseries at the Atlanta Methodist Church in Atlanta. The Eminence Christian Church and the Sunshine Day Care in McLean.

The members of the Quilters Corner are constantly working on charitable projects where they can put their passion for sewing to use benefiting children throughout the region. The group provides Huggable Friends cloth dolls and quilted blankets to several local non-profits serving area children. They also work with the Wee Care Tree that benefits children of families in Atlanta, McLean, and Waynesville.

The group meets on Wednesday's at 1 p.m. at Atlanta Manor. They welcome new members to come and join them. They also appreciate all types of donations from yarn to blue jeans and sheets. To learn more call Donna Campbell at (217) 960-6261.
