The
Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byways is pleased to
announce the grand opening of Ryburn Place in Normal
this Saturday, August 12th. The building now owned
by the city of Normal was built in 1931 to serve
Route 66 travelers. It offered a café and Cities
Service Gas Station. It was also unique in that it
was a two-story building with living quarters
overhead for the station/café owner and the station
attendant.
The building will now serve as a Route 66 gift shop
and information center.
