Sunday,
March 18th was a beautiful, sunny and
warm day at Kickapoo Creek Park when
about 50 people gathered for the annual
Haiti 5K road/Trail Run. This event
hosted by the Jefferson Street Church in
Lincoln is a little different than a
typical 5K in that the route includes
running or walking through some of the
wonderful trails at the park. The event
is a fundraiser for the church,
organized and overseen by local soccer
coach Tim Stucky. The money brought in
from the run will finance a mission trip
to Haiti. Volunteers on the trip will
assist with work that needs to be done
in the area, offer medical and vision
clinics, help with a vacation Bible
School program and hold a soccer camp
for the local children and feed them,
all at no expense to the people served.
