The
"big hollow tree" in Kickapoo Creek Park
in Lincoln got a major pruning recently.
The tree which is a park landmark is
near and dear to the hearts of many, and
because of this, every effort is being
made to save the aging tree that is
hollow from the ground up. It is hoped
that the pruning will relieve the stress
on the structure of the tree, and that
it will go ahead and branch out again
next spring. However, if it doesn't,
park superintendent Joe Funk said the
tree will still remain because it is a
favorite of park visitors.
