The folks from Logan County Arts and Lincoln Art Institute are doing their part to bring color and interest to the downtown area this weekend. Several artists have done paintings that now hang on the security fence around the burned-out Oasis Senior Center. There are more shots of the individual pieces in the photo albums below.

In case you haven't "heard," the cicadas are back in town. The large insects attach themselves to trees or other woody objects, then shed their skins, leaving behind their outer shell. As a point of interest, the unique sound of the cicada is produced only by the male of the species, and the sound comes from muscles in the abdominal region of the bug.
