The Logan County Tourism Board has decided to seek nominations for Parade Grand Marshal for this year’s Lincoln Christmas Parade from the citizens of Lincoln.

Nominations should be mailed or delivered to the Tourism Bureau, 1555 Fifth Street, Lincoln, or emailed to assistant@destinationlogancountyil.com, and must be received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Nominations should include names and contact information for the nominator and the nominee, and some background information about the nominee’s community involvement.

From the Illinois State Police
Wednesday, November 22nd, 10 p.m.

ISP D09 State Troopers are working the scene of a serious traffic crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 at mile post 129 in LOGAN COUNTY.

Serious traffic congestion is occurring with traffic only able to pass in the LEFT lane. This issue is expected to last for an extended period of time.

A media release will be completed as soon as Troopers can work the scene. Troopers will not be able to discuss with media until the incident is closed.

On Thursday, November 16, in front of members of the Logan County Board, Dan Fulscher led the ceremony of delivering this year’s top EMA awards to recipients. This year's top award, the Larry Shroyer Award, was presented to Representative Tim Butler and Senator Bill Brady (represented by his aide Niha Minnaganti) for all the work they have done for the community. Darwin Shroyer, nephew of Larry Shroyer for whom the award is named, joined Fulscher in the presentation.

At the Monday evening meeting of the Lincoln City Council, Aldermen Rick Hoefle came forward to hand over a plaque to the city acknowledging the effort of the city of Lincoln and Mayor Seth Goodman in the July storms. The award was presented by the Logan County Emergency Management Agency and ETSB at a recent Logan County Board Meeting. Hoefle had accepted the award on behalf of the city. Also receiving awards for that same storm were the heads of the Lincoln Police, Fire, and Street Departments.
