This week students at Carroll Catholic School in Lincoln have been having a great time celebrating Red Ribbon Week. The weeklong observance promotes drug-free living and shows kids they can have fun without getting high. The program is sponsored by the student council. Shown above are members of the council and their adviser. At the home of Dr. Don and Jan Sielaff, it is all about Halloween, and you don't need to wait until dark to enjoy the scenery. The front lawn of the Sielaff home is once again this year all decked out with ghosts, goblins, skeletons and a really freaky-looking coffin. If you haven't been by there yet, it would be worth your time to check it out.

Dancers with Ballet Austin perform "Light/The Holocaust Project," a dance performance about intolerance and genocide. Stephen Mills, artistic director of  Ballet Austin, created the dance after interviewing survivors of the Nazi Holocaust, which killed 6 million Jews by the end of World War II. Ballets that wish to host or perform "Light/The Holocaust Project" must agree to a public anti-bigotry campaign in their communities.

The Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers earned a regional championship Thursday evening by defeating the Hartsburg-Emden Lady Stags. Mount Pulaski took the first set 25-16 and had to fight back in the second set to get the 25-23 win. The Lady Toppers improved their record to 29 wins and eight losses. The team will travel to Williamsfield on Tuesday to begin sectional play.
