[NOV. 24, 2003]  BLOOMINGTON -- The Lincoln College men's swimming team finished second to Carthage College in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational here Saturday. Carthage won the meet with 127 points, and the Lynx had a total of 90 points. Following the Lynx were Millikin, Lawrence University, Augustana, Wesleyan and North Central.

Wesleyan won the women's competition with 108 points and the Lynx swimmers finished in seventh place with 41 points. Carthage, North Central, Augustana, Millikin and Lawrence finished ahead of the Lynx, while Eureka and Webster finished eighth and ninth.

The top performer for the Lynx was Amanda Hurt, as she finished first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving for coach Dan Hemenway. The only other Lynx swimmer to finish in the top five was Brianne Nation, who took fifth in three events: the 200-yard IM, 100-yard fly and the 100-yard back.

T.J. Rietveld had a pair of second-place finishes in diving for the Lynx men. He finished second in both the 1- and 3-meter. Also placing second for the Lynx were Will Dickerson in the 100-yard back and Robert Aritzmendi in the 100-yard fly.

Paul Davis placed third in both the 1- and 3-meter diving. Jared Sexton was fifth in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breast. Aritzmendi was fourth in the 50-yard free.

The Lincoln College 200-yard medley relay team of Will Dickerson, Sexton, Tyler Stegmaier and Aritzmendi finished second, and the 200-yard free relay team of Jeff Byrne, Eric Girard, Stephen O'Leary and Aritzmendi placed fifth.
