Late last week Mayor Keith Snyder, representing the city of Lincoln, and Tom O'Donohue, representing the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County,  shared that the Tropics restaurant building has been sold. The sellers have given the original Tropics sign to the city. O'Donohue and Snyder said the sign will be restored and a new home found for it because the Tropics played a key role in Logan County's Route 66 history. 

The sign at its best was covered with neon lighting. O'Donohue said neon is expensive, and it may take a while to get the money together for the restoration. In the meantime, the sign will be carefully stored so as to prevent any further damage.

Each month, teachers at Carroll Catholic School select two students from first to fourth grade and two students from fifth to eighth grade to receive Student of the Month awards. Students are chosen based upon Christian attitude, cooperativeness, courteousness, self-discipline and effort.

April Students of the Month are eighth-grader John Ferreira, first-grader Soren Aukamp, fourth-grader Hayden Gellner and eighth-grader Sana Wahab.

LDN Magazine Rack A collection of LDN's finest periodical projects

Saturday there were a couple of great opportunities for families to get out and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and at the same time let kids scarf up bunches of candy and other treats. The Lincoln Park District hosted their annual Easter egg hunt in the morning, and the Salt Creek A.B.A.T.E. hosted one in the afternoon.  Both events were very well attended, and kids left happy with bags of candy as well as some really great prizes. See more great photos of both events in the Food, Family and Fun section below.
