Farm Credit Services wrapped up the weeklong observance of Farm Safety Week by delivering a midday meal to the Rick Boyer farm in the Hartsburg-Emden area. Boyer, pictured third from the left, farms with his dad and brother. Corn harvest is well underway on their farm, and the "free lunch" from Farm Credit Services was a much-needed break in the midst of a long day.

With Nov. 19 marking the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is featuring letters to or by Lincoln that were written between the end of Battle of Gettysburg on July 3, 1863, and his famous speech. Each letter represents one of the many issues he had to face as chief executive of the nation during its greatest crisis.

Thursday evening the Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers and the Hartsburg-Emden Lady Stags faced off in an exciting volleyball match. The two rivals are well known in Logan County as stellar teams with talented players. Their matches bring in the crowds, as from beginning to end, everyone knows that with this kind of talent, it could go either way. On this night it was the Toppers who came out on top, winning with scores of 25-18 and 25-19.
