LDN -- Top Stories

On Saturday morning, the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Ambassadors joined members of the Logan County Railsplitting Association for a ribbon cut celebrating the opening of the 2017 Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival. This is the second year for the festival to be held on the lawn of the historic Postville Courthouse, as well as Postville Park, the Cronin Brother's VFW, and the Mill on 66 Museum.

On Sunday afternoon the Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival came to a close with the National Railsplitting Competition. This year's winners were Chris Freidlein, first place; Jonathon Norin, second place; Cody Freidlein, third place; and Evan Coombs, fourth place. Chris has won the local competition many times in the past, and during the competition wore a t-shirt touting that he won in 1983, 1988, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2013; and now he can add 2017.
